We can’t wait to see the great job you’ve done on taking care of your teeth!

At Nanaimo Smiles, we think visiting the dentist is like a mini adventure for your teeth! We’re here to make sure your smile stays bright and healthy, and we promise to make the whole experience friendly and FUN!

You’ll get to sit in a comfy chair, wear cool sunglasses, and maybe even choose some fun music or your favorite TV show to listen to or watch while we give your teeth a gentle clean. We love helping kids like you keep their smiles sparkling, and we’re always excited to see you and make sure your teeth are happy and strong. So come on in, bring your favorite stuffie if you’d like, and let’s have a great time taking care of those awesome teeth of yours!

Why do I need to go to the dentist?

Going to the dentist is like giving your teeth a little check-up to make sure they’re happy and healthy! Just like you go to the doctor to make sure you’re feeling great, we check your teeth to keep them strong and shiny.

What will the dentist do?

When it’s time to come see us at Nanaimo Smiles, we’ll look at your teeth to see how they’re doing. We might use a tiny mirror and some special tools to get a good look. We’ll also give your teeth a good cleaning to make them sparkle! We want to hear all about how well you’ve been brushing your teeth at home, and you can even bring your completed Nanaimo Smiles Tooth Brushing Chart with you to redeem a fun prize from our treasure chest!

Will it hurt?

Nope, it won’t hurt! Most of the time, you won’t feel anything at all, but sometimes it might tickle when we use a special polishing tool. If you ever feel uncomfortable, just let us know, and we’ll make sure you’re feeling okay.

What if I’m scared?

It’s okay to feel a little nervous. We’re here to help you feel comfortable and make your visit fun. We can chat about anything you like or you can watch your favourite show, like Bluey or Peppa Pig on our cool ceiling TVs.

Can I bring a stuffie with me?

Absolutely! You can bring your favorite toy or stuffie when you visit us—we love getting to meet your special friends from home! We also have cool blankets for you to use to make your treatment just a bit more comfortable.

How often do I need to come to the dentist?

We love when you visit us at least every six months. That way, we can keep your teeth in tip-top shape and catch any little issues before they become big ones. It’s so fun for us to hear what you’ve been up to, so make sure you save all your best stories and jokes for us when you come visit!

What if I have a cavity?

If you have a cavity, don’t worry! Sugarbugs sometimes cause a problem and we’ll fix it quickly and easily to help your tooth feel better. We want your teeth to be as strong as possible! When you come see us to help your tooth, we’ll put on your favorite show to watch. You might not even notice we’re fixing up your tooth!

When can I have a snack after seeing the dentist?

You can have a snack whenever you’re ready! Just try to pick something healthy for your teeth, like fruit or yogurt. And remember to brush your teeth afterward to keep them sparkling clean!

Is going to the dentist fun?

Yes! From getting to read, play and colour in the waiting room to getting to watch your favourite show while the dentist and dental hygienists make your smile sparkle, going to the dentist is fun! Plus, you’ll learn a lot of cool things like how many teeth you have and how to wiggle your tongue. And at the very end of your visit, you’ll get to visit the treasure chest for a special prize.
